Fargo Season 5 brought me back.

Where to Watch: Hulu or FX

No. of Emmy Nominations: 15

No. of Beavers: Season 5 ONLY is 4 out of 5. The series overall is a 3 out of 5 for me.

Weaver Beaver Recommendation: Season 5 was fire. I was stressed, angry and saying fuck yeah, a lot of and I loved it. Truly an uptick from the downward slopes of seasons 3 & 4.

Show Description: In 2019, Scandia housewife Dorothy "Dot" Lyon (Juno Temple) is kidnapped by Ole Munch (Sam Spruell), but escapes with help from North Dakota State Trooper Witt Farr (Lamorne Morris). When Dot returns home, she claims to her husband Wayne (David Rysdahl) that there was no kidnapping. While Farr and Scandia deputy Indira Olmstead (Richa Moorjani) investigate, Munch comes into conflict with the man who hired him, Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm), the constitutional sheriff of Stark County, North Dakota and Dot's first husband, whom she fled ten years prior. On top of Tillman, Munch, and the police, Dot must also contend with Wayne's wealthy mother Lorraine (Jennifer Jason Leigh), the CEO of a debt collection agency who suspects Dot faked the kidnapping in order to extort her.

MW Review

This was a rough watch for me because of my neurodivergent brain I couldn’t JUST watch season 5. I had to make sure I finished season 4 first which…was a chore. But this blog post isn’t about season 4 (thank god) it’s about season five – which I must say was FUCKING PHENOMENAL. I am one that usually can guess where a show is going. I.e. HOD that episode where Rhaenyra and Mysaria kissed I called that shit from the top. I was like oop look like they gonna hook up and low and behold they did.

Anyway, thank you for following that ADHD moment. That is all to say I usually am great at knowing where a show is going and am RARELY surprised. This season had me gay gasp at least six times and I loved it. It truly was a boss ass bitch season and I fucking STAN the three lead women so hard. I know that Jon Hamms character was a domestic fuck wit but despite that or perhaps because of it Juno Temples character is the person I aspire to be. Living her life doing normal things but at a moment’s notice turns into a fucking secret agent level bad ass and then goes back to being a nice person after killing someone. And the story between her and Jennifer Jason Leigh is where true great story telling comes from. Between Juno, Jennifer and the amazing Richa Moorjani I was in heaven cheering for these women and their journeys and for once not loving the sappy ending.

Additionally, in what seems to be a reoccurring theme with TV lately they also touched on how the rich people of this country cannot be taken down unless they choose to. Which is ultimately a fucking terrifying thought. I cannot remember the exact quote but Jennifer says to the police officers something along the lines of “Don’t think that you’re invited inside the walls. We pay for you to keep the riffraff out but you aren’t welcome within the walls either and you should remember that.” And honestly in the current police state we’re living in, I think that’s something we should all remember. Anyway enough chanting “eat the rich” for now but I wanted to point out that this is a storyline I’m seeing more and more often and I wonder if its some subliminal message from the inside where they are trying to let us know we have no power. ANY WHO…..

It was nice to see Joe Kerry in something outside of Stranger Things. I cannot recommend this season enough if you like crime/thriller/action. It’s a must watch for me.
