Each season of the series is structured as a self-contained narrative, employing new cast ensembles, and following various sets of characters and settings. The fourth season aired in 2024, titled True Detective: Night Country and starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. It takes place in Alaska and follows the investigation into the sudden disappearance of a team of eight men from a research station.

I was SO excited for this season and for the most part it really didn’t disappoint. Jodie Foster and Kali Reis fucking killed it. Personally, I think this season was better than season 1 and I REALLY liked season 1. It’s a little bit / latta bit spooky in some instances that – to me – not only enhances the story for me but made me have a hard time figuring out who the fuck killed the researchers! Each episode had me guessing and wanting for me and asking questions and point fingers at new people. It kept me engaged and the acting was phenomenal. Not to mention the fact that I loved the overarching Native American storyline and how that weaved itself into the murder as well. It was a brilliant show, and I would watch again in a heartbeat. ….ended it. I think if you’re going to have a spooky ghost element throughout make the murder have a spooky ghost element. Even just a little one. I understand SOMEONE had to have murdered those people but the ENTIRE season you’re teasing me with some super natural spooky potential ending and then you blue ball me in the last episode? C’mon! But other than that great season.
